Smoothmedia launches Innovaros to promote and preserve identity of Greek island of Paros

Smoothmedia is excited to announce the launch of a new website for Innovaros as part of a broader identity rebrand project for the island of Paros, Greece. The Innovaros project is a collaboration between Smoothmedia and a member group of progressive individuals and organisations living and working on the island in the central Aegean Sea.

"The launch of the Innovaros website and the accompanying SmoothParos workshops is just the beginning of great things to come for the island," said Innovaros member Athena Perantinou. "We feel confident that working with Smoothmedia we have the ability to change things for a better future through our efforts and collaboration. It is a great example of teamwork for the achievement of goals and I am very proud of all the members of Innovaros."

The concept of Innovaros was born from a meeting between Perantinou and Smoothmedia Director Chris Brauer in Athens in February, 2010 following his presentation on emergent identities in social media at the IMIC 2010 conference. Perantinou suggested they work together to create and develop means for Paros to protect and promote the unique identity of the island through the use of emergent digital media communication and technologies.

Smoothmedia directors Chris Brauer and Jennifer Barth co-chair an advisory committee for the non-profit organisation in an ongoing and intended long-term relationship between Innovaros and Smoothmedia. News about achievements and challenges for the organisation will be posted on the Smoothmedia site as the project develops.
